Make a New Ending

A great message to remember going forward into the new year:

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start,
anyone can start from now and make
a brand new ending.
-Carl Bard

January 2012 Visiting Teaching Message - Watchcare and Ministering through Visiting Teaching

I think this is a great topic to start thew new year off with, especially if it's on your resolution list to be a good visiting teacher, the principles in the message will set you merrily on your way. It's called 'Watchcare and Ministering through Visiting Teaching'

IDEA 1
I've selected two quotes from the scriptures used which I thought would be applicable to all your sisters, those who visit teach, and those who don't, and those who don't have any sisters assigned to them:

The Savior was the perfect example of charity, sacrifice and when we focus on Him our motivation to do that to others increases. Visiting teaching is love in action:

Sometimes is easy to put other things before visiting teaching, life can get so busy, and our lives can be filled with so many distractions, unavoidable and/or self-inflicted ones, but I thought about this part of the 'feed my lambs' scripture last night, and how Simon Peter was busy doing shepherding, a worthy cause, but the Savior re-directed his attention to that which mattered more. Visiting teaching a one of the Lord's ways  to feed His sheep, and show that we love Him more, than those distractions:

I hope you have an awesome time Visiting Teaching this month:)

IDEA 2
I've started a little side business called Sprinkled Joy, selling some of the quotes which I post on here, in printable digital format - don't worry, the vast majority will still be free:) I only charge a teeny design fee for these prints, ($1.50 currently) for each digital image. Anyway, I tried my hand at some this month for the VT message, and I think they turned out pretty cute. If you're interested click the image and you will be re-drectired to my Etsy shop where you can purchase one.

This quote from the message by Eliza R. Snow, also stood out to me:

"Plead before God and the Holy Ghost to get [the Spirit] so that…  you may feel to talk words of peace and comfort, and if you find a sister feeling cold, take her to your heart as you would a child to your bosom and warm [her] up.”,

so I have created printables inspired by this, and here they are:
An article following the VT message in January's Ensign is called: "My Visiting Teachers Led Me to Jesus Christ", she talks about how 'come rain or come shine' her visiting teachers were there for her, which is I think is at the heart of Eliza R. Snow's quote, and it tied so well with the VT message in general of always being there for your sisters, that I created a printable of that quote, available in 3 colors and sizes, 4x6, 5x7 or 8x10:

I've also created these printables which I will personalize free for you, with you and your companions names and telephone numbers and alternate message to 'we're here for you' (if desired), which she could keep not only as a way to know how to get hold of you, but as a reminder that 'come rain or come shine' you are there for her:

..and then from the VT message - one of the scriptures, which sums up why we visit teach:

To order, click the image you are interested in, and you'll be redirected to my Etsy page where you can purchase the printable image. I can usually get these emailed to you within a few hours, but definitely within 24 hrs. Thanks:).

Simplifying

“We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are.”
~Marjorie Pay Hinckley

What Can I Give Him?

"What can I give Him, Poor as I am? If I were a shepherd, I would give Him a lamb, If I were a wise man, I would do my part - But what I can I give Him, Give my heart."
