Do it Anyway

I think this has to be my most favorite Mother Teresa quote. Ever:

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway. If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
 ~Mother Teresa

Tuesday Tell All - Nicknames

Did you have a nickname as you were growing up? If you did, what was it and why did they call you that? Have you had other nicknames as an adult? What do family members call you now?

Fairy Tales

“Fairy tales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
~G.K. Chesterton

Over-thinking ruins you. Ruins the situation, twists things around, makes you worry and just makes everything much worse than it actually is.

Looking for the Open Door

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.”

Free 'I Love You Because...' printable

I whipped up a few of these because with valentines day around the corner, love is in the air:). I think they would be cute in a kids bedroom, or in the kitchen - where everyone seems to gather, at least in our house, or on the back the front door or door to the garage, so it's the last thing that your lovies will see. Just use a dry erase marker to write your message, then the next day erase it and write a new one, it's the gift that keeps on giving:) Of course you can also just print it out and use it like a letter to write some sweet love notes on:). There are a few design options, including some printer ink friendly white backgrounds. Just click on the image you like to download it.

Divine Gift of Repentance

I'm teaching this lesson tomorrow in RS, and created this handout, it's a 4x6, and have created a free download of it incase it's useful to anyone out there. Click HERE to download (for current free 4x6 deals I know of, click HERE).

“Only repentance leads to the sunlit uplands of a better life... Repentance is a divine gift, and there should be a smile on our faces when we speak of it. It points us to freedom, confidence, and peace. Rather than interrupting the celebration, the gift of repentance is the cause for true celebration.”
 (D. Todd Christofferson, ‘Divine Gift of Repentance’, Ensign, Nov 2011)

5 Aspects of Repentance
1. The invitation to repent is an expression of love.
2. Repentance means striving to change.
3. Repentance means committing to obedience.
4. Repentence requires a willingness to persevere, even through pain.
5. Whatever the cost, repentence is swallowed up in the joy of forgiveness.

Love your Beautiful Life

Dear God,
Thanks for this beautiful life, and forgive me if I don't love it enough.

... we're probably all guilty of this sometimes, but there is always beauty in our life if we look past the obstacles to see it:)

The Heart is a Muscle

"The heart is a muscle, and what do muscles do when they are torn? They grow back stronger."

Believe it.

"The Lord has said it. I believe it, and that is that."
~Joy D. Skidmore

Just as a note, this is a quote from my mum and is what she always used to say. She was the biggest influence in my faith in Jesus Christ. I learnt from a young age that God doesn't lie, He keeps His promises to us ~ sometimes those promises take a while to be fulfilled, but they come, so believe Him and Believe in Him.

"None of us need one more person... pointing out where we have failed or fallen short... what each of use does need is family... who believe in us, and who believe we're trying to do the best we can."
~Marvin J. Ashton

Apologizing does not always mean that you’re wrong and the other person is right.
It just means that you value your relationship more than your ego.

Viewing Your Past and Present

The reason some people find it so hard to be happy is that they see the past better than it was, and the present worse than it is.

'As a man thinketh, so is he', so see the good, because your present is awesome!

February 2012 Visiting Teaching Message - Guardians of the Hearth

For March's Visiting Teaching Message, click HERE

This months VT message is entitled 'Guardians of the Hearth'. It talks about the woman's role in the home, and that 'no other role comes so close to divinity as that of nurturing your children'.
I really loved the scriptures that went along with the message, particularly Alma 56:46-48 which I'm sure is very familiar to you, where the stripling warriors recount the effect their mothers had on them - what a gift that would be, for every child to have a mother who knew God, and lived a life framed in faith - so I've done a handout based on that for this month.
This is a 4x6 image (I like 4x6 because they are cheap to print out professionally, and don't eat up your ink if you print at home:). Click HERE

and this one  HERE
If you have switched to the Facebook timeline profile, here is an image that you can use as your cover photo if you wish. Click HERE

I created this FREE printable, just put it in  a frame and use a dry erase marker to change up the message each day, a great idea to increase love and appreciation in the home. I thought this would be a cute 'valentines' gift for your sisters, as you can pick up a frame at the dollar store and pair it with a dry erase marker form there too.... and it would tie in with the message too. Just click HERE to see the other designs and for download.

This is from my Prints blog/shop, Sprinkled Joy, and cost $1.95
This happy print is a great reminder of the principles that we, as guardians of our hearth, represent. The print comes in multi-colored, red, or just pick your own color hearts from the color swatch, in 4x6, 5x7 or 4 to a page (letter-sized) to print it at home or at your favorite print place.  See below for examples or click HERE:
