Do What She Needs - Visiting Teaching (VT) Changes 2018

I just read that there are some changes (see HERE) coming in 2018 to visiting teaching which I am excited about. I love the shift in emphasis, and really I think the heart of visiting teaching has always been to do visiting teaching in the way the sister you see needs, but this really frees up those sisters who don't know if it 'counts' to do it that way. It's all about reaching the one, and for me it comes down to, did my sister feel loved by me this month, did they know they could count on and reach out to me, did I follow promptings regarding them, was I seeking to get these promptings, and others. Since being called as RS Pres in my ward I've created lots of printables for various things (it's my love language I guess:), I'll start putting them on here and maybe they'll help you too:)

Here's one that I'll use when introducing the changes to my sisters, one is an 8x10, which can also be enlarged up to 16x20, click the image to be taken to the download site, and one is a 4x6 if you want a handout size, or 4 to a page. Enjoy.xxx

A little 4x6 Handout I made from an excerpt of the talk by President Monson - the full talk can be found HERE. 

"I have been thinking recently about choices and their consequences. Scarcely an hour of the day goes by but what we are called upon to make choices of one sort or another. Some are trivial, some more far-reaching. Some will make no difference in the eternal scheme of things, and others will make all the difference.

As I’ve contemplated the various aspects of choice, I’ve put them into three categories: first, the right of choice; second, the responsibility of choice; and third, the results of choice. I call these the three Rs of choice.

Let us not find ourselves as indecisive as is Alice in Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. You will remember that she comes to a crossroads with two paths before her, each stretching onward but in opposite directions. She is confronted by the Cheshire cat, of whom Alice asks, “Which path shall I follow?”

The cat answers, “That depends where you want to go. If you do not know where you want to go, it doesn’t matter which path you take.” 7

Unlike Alice, we all know where we want to go, and it does matter which way we go, for by choosing our path, we choose our destination.

Decisions are constantly before us. To make them wisely, courage is needed—the courage to say no, the courage to say yes. Decisions do determine destiny.

I plead with you to make a determination right here, right now, not to deviate from the path which will lead to our goal: eternal life with our Father in Heaven."

Steps to 'Becoming a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ'

A couple of ideas for use:
He is actually going to laminate this and write the steps on as this picture each week that are applicable with a dry erase marker, as it will be used 4 or 5 times this year.

If you use the word strips it could be hide them around the room and have the kids find them.

Or separate the letters to each step and have the children solve the puzzle of what the word/step is by rearranging them.
